Questions from parents and learners

Online Python tutor: frequently asked questions

Do you teach Python to kids?

Yes. I teach Python to kids and teenagers online, usually from around age 10, using small games, puzzles and projects so every idea is something they build and can explain.

What can students practise on the website?

Students get a complete Python from scratch course (45 tutorial lessons from data types to classes, with examples you can run and 135 practice exercises checked instantly), a live Python notebook, a Scratch-style Block studio, a 3D Robot Lab (build a robot and code it with blocks, like LEGO SPIKE), a Circuit lab with MicroPython, a Data Lab for NumPy, pandas, Matplotlib and Seaborn, a drag-and-drop machine learning lab, an AI Lab where you teach the computer with your webcam, voice or dance moves, labs for web development, SQL, algorithms and interviews, how ChatGPT works, a Vision AI lab that shows how transformers, YOLO, ReID and object tracking work, image processing, code breaking, game making, physics and electricity, Python games and 50 problem-solving puzzles โ€“ all in the browser. Umair can join any of them live and set lessons in them as homework, which tick themselves off as the student earns stars. It is included while you take lessons, and anyone can unlock it with Pro for USD 10 a month (USD 100 a year) โ€“ create a free account to try the demos first.

How do online Python lessons work?

Lessons are one-to-one over Zoom. Each student gets a private portal with their lesson notes, practice tasks, quizzes and a progress report that parents can read.

I am a complete beginner. Can I still learn Python?

Absolutely. We start from your current level with variables, loops and functions, then move to real projects at a pace that suits you. You can also practise on your own with the Python from scratch course on the website โ€“ the first lessons are free to try.

What can I learn after the basics?

Data science with Pandas and NumPy, machine learning, computer vision, Django and Flask web development, and interview or university project preparation.

How do I book a Python tutor session?

Message me by email or WhatsApp with your goals and your time zone, and we will plan a first lesson together.
